April 15, 2008. Current progress on the Triathlon painting for the summer Olympic Games in Beijing. These shots show the developed drawings which serve as the roadmap to the painting. At this stage the artist has transferred his compositions to canvas and is working on the under-painting.

May 1, 2008. Painting on the canvas continues. Using the smaller painting (shown left) as a color-note and reference, Paul continues the process on the canvas, layering color & glazes. Now the creative process becomes less technical, freer, improvisational, intuitive, about the rhythm. At this stage the painting is still very transparent. He paints to music and inspiring and empowering spoken word such as "The Soul of a Butterfly" narrated by Hana Yasmeen Ali & the late Ossie Davis who read the story of Muhammad Ali.

June 10, 2008. Paul re-works parts of the composition and continues to lay colors down on the canvas, creating more depth of color.

June 30, 2008. After some revisions and re-working the Olympic tryptich is nearly finished. But is a work every finished? Sometimes, sometimes not. A few last minute touches this is done. Now this piece will be cut into three pieces. The Olympic Games in Beijing start in August and this piece needs to be framed, crated and shipped to China. Paul's been so busy working on this piece he hasn't given it a title. Want to help us with a title for this three-part work that depicts the Triathlon? Send your comments & feedback. Thanks.
