Geom-A-Tree

"Geom-A-Tree" 1990-91
Metropolitan Boston Transit Authority: Ruggles St. Station, Orange Line
Porcelain & stained glass mural. This is a collaboration with Elaine Yoneoka, ceramic artist, Paul Goodnight, painter and Emmanuel Genovese, stained glass artist, with assistance from Stephanie Jackson.  It consists of tiles individually shaped and sculpted which fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.  It is 5' high by 26' long and 6" deep.

Visit the online studio of Elaine Yoneoka.

Detail:  The infant is rendered in a double layer of stained glass, the bottom an iridescent white, and on top a clear glass with a water texture to give the visual impression of being in water, as in the placenta.
